Socket: A Robot Odyssey.

With an introduction by Brian Cosgrove OBE, this project demonstrates easy-to-learn stop motion skills from some of the animation industry’s leading artists.

Animated by BAFTA award winning director and animator Barry Purves (The Wind in the Willows, The Pied Piper of Hamlin) with character designs by Bridget Appleby (The Reluctant Dragon), this short film aims to provide an accessible insight to the development of character, setting and in-camera stop motion techniques.

The making of this film is part of a wider initiative to provide a platform for local artists, where new collaborations can be made between makers, writers, and animators. Using CHFA as a living resource, we hope to maintain traditional stop motion techniques while supporting new and exciting projects.

This project has been produced by Cosgrove Hall Films Archive with support from Heritage Lottery Fund and Waterside.
