British singer-songwriter/producer Minute Taker (otherwise known as Ben McGarvey) makes what NOTION describes as "beautiful electronic-orientated pop songs" with "haunting melodies, electronic beats and soulful singing" (TIME OUT).

Inspired by artists like Kate BushTori AmosDavid Bowie & long walks with his dog in the otherworldly Pennine hills where he lives, Minute Taker uses his small home studio & a whole lot of imagination to craft his nostalgia-fuelled, alternative synth-pop songs, perfect for disappearing into.

Besides releasing 2 critically acclaimed albums & several EPs, he has recently turned his hand to remixing songs for some of his favourite artists such as Yazoo & Erasure (released on Mute/BMG UK) and has created imaginative cover versions of classic songs by Kate BushEurythmicsMadonnaBjorkThe Smiths & Pet Shop Boys, released via a subscription service he runs for fans called 'Secret Songs'.

Waterside Arts supported the development of Minute Taker’s Wolf Hours performance piece, an audiovisual show which presented as a series of dream sequences, Wolf Hours explored the psyches of several gay men at different points in time over the past century. Wolf Hours premiered at Refract Festival 2019.

The interview runs for approximately 23 minutes.

You’ll be able to watch the stream on Diverge Hub or on Facebook Live through the Waterside Arts page.
