Interviews.

As part of the Diverge programme, we will be running a series of insightful interviews celebrating artists and creatives who’ve been commissioned and/or supported by Waterside Arts and Creative Industries Trafford.

Int.1: Janice Connolly.

Janice is a founder member of Women & Theatre and has been the Artistic Director for the past 25 years. She has written, directed and performed in very many projects for the company.

Janice also has a very successful freelance career as a comedy actress and as comedy circuit headliner, Mrs Barbara Nice. She reached the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent in 2019. She has previously been seen as Holy Mary in Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights on Channel 4, Dead Man Weds on ITV and Thin Ice on BBC2. She has played two roles in Coronation Street, first appearing as Peter Kay's mother in 2004 and then as Sheila Wheeler in the Kabin with Norris in 2009.

No stranger to Waterside, Janice has performed with us many times as ‘Barbara Nice’.

Anthony Crank grabbed a few minutes with Janice to chat about ‘Barbara Nice’s Festive Party’, a live streamed show from Waterside on Saturday 12 December 2020.
